We stand up with victims against racism
We develop and put into practice new strategies to fight racism
We sensitize public opinion
Welcome to the CaBi Antiracism Centre – an international cultural meeting point for personal and political contact and the exchange of ideas.
In 1993 a group of men and women from different cultural backgrounds and countries founded CaBi as an antiracism centre. Their aims were to enable and facilitate inter-cultural exchange, to demonstrate their solidarity with asylum seekers and to develop strategies to combat racism. Right from the start, CaBi was at the origin of a number of campaigns, projects and rallies.
In recent years, the rejection and exclusion of refugees has clearly increased and become more aggressive
Refugees and migrants from all over the world are mostly turned away as soon as they arrive at the border of Switzerland or any other European country.
The constant toughening of Swiss laws on asylum-seekers and foreigners seeks to criminalize, isolate and exclude refugees.
Right wing extremism and daily racist aggression (on the street, in the bus or when dealing with public authorities) are certainly on the increase in our country – and Eastern Switzerland is no exception.
We hope that more people will be willing to join us in our fight against racism.
We cannot accept:
- Indifference to violence against refugees and the generalised subjection of migrants to exclusion and discrimination
- Toleration and covering-up of day-to-day racist aggression
- Swiss foreign and economic policies that actually aggravate the problem of refugees
Public Relations
CaBi offers counselling for people who have suffered racist aggression on the streets, at the police station or when dealing with public authorities.
We coordinate campaigns to combat the introduction of even tougher legislation in this area. We also organise events on the subject of ongoing conflicts around the world and human rights issues.
